Метод onHandleIntent() не вызывается

после многих часов исследований я, наконец, консультируюсь с официальной помощью. Почему не onHandleIntent() вам звонил? Здесь что-то не так?

в основной деятельности onCreate():

mService = new Intent(context, xyz.class);
startService(mService);

что это МКС. The onStartCommand() вызывается, но не onHandleIntent()
